We have a deep fondness for what is left of the Greatest Generation and the Silent Generation. There is so much life that has been witnessed and survived by these two groups and those stories are rapidly being lost forever. Coming up behind them are the massive amount of Baby Boomers that are retiring in record numbers and experiencing all kinds of issues often referred to as The Greying Of Small Towns, Divorce, the workplace, etc. You name a social struggle these days and there is a whole different way it is affecting every generation from the age of 65 and up. This means a different approach to alleviating the struggles of our elder population is needed and fast. Unfortunately, there is a sizable predatory industry also aware of these struggles. From insurance to subscriptions to housing, elders are bombarded with emails and phone calls with fast talking sales agents half explaining information and insisting on a fast yes before they hang up the phone. This is an intimidating and overwhelming occurrance for many people but especially so for our mature population. There are many promises made to save money if they act fast. This seems to be one of the biggest triggers for people that were directly or indirectly affected by The Great Depression. To perpetuate this, just as our largest generation hits retirement age and desires to slow down and simplify their life, technology and AI chat bots becomes the only way to get things done in day to day life. We recognize the struggle and frustration for those that lack family support or younger peers to step in and assist with these multiplying obstacles. We believe this community is a vibrant and rich resource to the world around us, especially the younger generations still facing the load of full time work and domestic care, and should not only be reintegrated, but celebrated and appreciated for what they still have to offer society. We also understand it is challenging for these generations to allow themselves to ask for or pay for help. In addition to many being on a fixed income, they were raised to stand on their own two feet, not be a burden to others and not to live frivilously. For many, help was believed to be for the wealthy and an unecessary or undeserved option. They also fear being seen as incompotent and losing their autonomy and independance if they seek a little sharing of the workload later in life.
We are working to ease some of the challenges our greying population is facing and help them to live their life as and where they desire, comfortably and confidently, while also facilitating them becoming more successfully integrated into multi-generational, interdependent communities. We do this through education and support services such as:
Hand over hand, side by side, or even done for you task completion
Actionable coaching and lifestyle improvement support
Virtual assistant/personal assistant/executive assistant services
Multigenerational social skill building
Interdependant living opportunities in their existing micro communities
Other ways we celebrate and tap into the wisdom of our elders and integrate that wisdom into the day to day lives of coming generations is through capturing their orated lived experiences, These "Porch Light Talks" are often real life tales of having a vision and then overcoming obstacles to reap the joys to come later on. We feel this is a priceless and rapidly disintegrating resource from which many generations to come could draw inspiration and hope from. We work to capture these stories and make them available , digitally, to preserve them for the greater good of humanity.
